Slovakian race car maker, Praga have brought out their new track focused R1 Racer. Praga R1 Racer is fitted with a powerful 207 HP 2.0 liter four cylinder engine similar to that seen in the Formula Renault. It weighs just 590 kgs thanks to excessive use of carbon fiber chassis and carbon Kevlar construction. The two seater measures 4170 mm in length, 1800 mm in width and stands 995 mm in height.
Safety features include carbon fiber crumple zones at front and rear side crash energy absorption. The Praga R1 also features six point seatbelts and integrated fire extinguisher system besides polycarbonate windows and safety fuel tank thus making it one of the safest cars on the circuit.
Praga R1 adds to the current lineup of Attack R4 and R4S GT racers which are being manufactured at the company’s Orechová Potô? facility located adjacent to the Autodrom Slovakia race circuit. Though similar in most respects the one striking difference between the R1 and its Attack R4 and R4S GT racers is the fact that the R1 is ready to be driven on public roads. It is compliant with all FIA safety regulations and is fitted with passenger seat and headlights. Production is well underway and the first cars are scheduled to participate in Praga Cup series on European circuits.

Two seater Praga R1 is 4170 mm long, 1800 mm wide, only 995 mm tall with only 590 kilograms dry weight (1300 lbs). Yet pilots of Praga R1 get unprecedented level of passive safety and comfort. Carbon fiber monocoque reinforced by internal ribs and bulkheads, carbon fiber crumple zones for frond and side crash energy absorbtion, 6-point seatbelts, integrated fire extinguisher system, polycarbonate windows and safety fuel tank make it one of the safest racing cars.
Base model uses naturally aspirated 2-liter 4-cylinder engine F4R 832 from Renault Sports Technologies with maximum 155 kW (210 PS) at 7500 rpm. This gives promising power to weight ratio of only 3,8 kg/kW (356 hp per tone). Optimal balance between beautiful shape and aerodynamics efficiency gives Praga R1 significant downforce which in return means higher cornering speeds and stability.
