Skoda Octavia India launch confirmed for 2013
2013 Skoda Octavia was unveiled in Dec 2012. Sales in Europe begin this month. In Indian markets, sales of new Octavia will commence later this year. The new Octavia will be seen with enhanced features, reduced weight, and powerful engine options.
New Octavia is based on the VisionD concept. The third generation Octavia will be larger and will portray a rounder stance than its earlier counterpart. The upcoming model will be 90 mm longer and 45 mm wider with a 108 mm longer wheelbase contributing to additional interior space. While space is at a premium it may also be mentioned that the new Octavia will be 102 kgs lighter. As the Skoda Octavia is already launched in Europe, drive review of the car is already out. All of which indicate that the new Octavia is a generation ahead.
Skoda Octavia will be offered in a choice of four petrol and four diesel engines. These will include the 1.4 TSI in two tunes – 120 bhp and 138 bhp while the 1.8 TSI engine will offer 177 bhp. There is also a 2.0 liter TSI engine for the vRS variant. Where diesel engine options are concerned, the Octavia will receive a 1.6 liter TDI engine offering 103 bhp or 108 bhp while its 2.0 liter TDI will be capable of either 147 bhp or 181 bhp.
