Spy Shots: 2011 Volkswagen Polo and Touareg

Earlier this week, Volkswagen was caught testing their new Polo and Touareg variants on the roads of Pune. These new variants which were caught on camera, are yet to be launched officially in the Indian auto industry.

Probably Volkswagen is going to launch new variant of Polo hatchback and Touareg SUV in India very soon. Launching new variants during the festive season is a very safe option as the spending capacity of Indians is on the rise during this period.

The photographer suggested that the Polo hatchback in the image here features steering mounted controls and a much powerful 1.5L CRDi diesel engine. If this is true, then Indian car buyers are in for a treat as they will now be able to buy a powerful diesel variant of Polo hatchback. The only Polo diesel variant available in the market today is the 1.2L, which is hugely underpowered.

Talking about the Touareg SUV in the image here, we see that Volkswagen engineers have applied minor cosmetic changes to the SUV which include a new rear bumper. Other major change is that the new Touareg is 200 kgs lighter than the current variant.
