Tata Motors Twist with Bangladesh launch of ‘Aamar Nano’
Launched in India in 2009, Tata Nano in its latest Twist variant avatar now enters Bangladesh three years later than planned, due to pricing issues. After receiving tepid response in India, Nano is launched as a low budget car in Bangladesh and expected to capture greater attention here.
Company dealers in the country have appealed to the Government of Bangladesh to remove the 45% duty levied on cars under the 700cc category so Nano can be more affordably priced to appeal to a wider customer group. Price of Nano would be reduced by Taka 110,000 at customer level if the supplementary duty is withdrawn.
Expecting to get a better reception in Bangladesh than in its home market, Nano Twistis being offered to buyers on an installment scheme with a down payment of Taka 300,000 followed by 42 installments of Tata 19,500 each. Tata Nano with its 624cc engine is capable of fuel efficiency of 25 kmpl and will be presented in Bangladesh in 6 colours, damson purple, pearl white, royal gold, papaya orange, meteor silver and dazzle blue.
