Toyota reports 4% sales decline in July 2014, TTTI students convocation
Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) reports 13,847 units sold in July 2014. Compared to 14,470 units sold in July 2013, equating to 4% sales decline. Toyota exported 1,926 units of Etios series from India in July.
TKM domestic market sales stood at 11,921 units in July 2014 over 11,515 units in 2013, to register 4% sales growth. N Raja, Director and Senior Vice – President, Sales and Marketing said both new launches, Corolla Altis and the Etios Cross have been well accepted by customers. 882 units Corolla Altis and 888 units Etios Cross were sold last month. Innova and Fortuner continue in leadership position in their respective segments.
Toyota Technical Training Institute (TTTI) celebrated its 5th convocation ceremony recently. 64 students from rural Karnataka were conferred degrees upon successful completion of its 3 year training course (2011-2014). Mr. Vikram Kirloskar, Vice Chairman, Toyota Kirloskar Motor, Mr. Shekar Viswanathan, Vice Chairman Toyota Kirloskar Motor, Mr. Naomi Ishii, Managing Director of Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM), and other senior dignitaries from TKM were in attendance for convocation.
TTTI is part of TKM’s CSR in India and provides an opportunity for intelligent students from Karnataka to train to be skilled technicians in auto manufacturing and plant administration to improve their employment prospects. TTTI’s acedemic course includes full time training in Automobile Assembly, Automobile Paint, Automobile Weld and Mechatronics (a combination of mechanical and industrial electronics). Training at Toyota’s plant gives students practical training.
