The demand for cars in India is something to reckon with. What was seen as a luxury segment in the days gone by, is no longer the case today. Good road or bad, availability of parking space or not, Indian consumers are buying four and two wheelers left, right and centre.

An average Indian household has an average of 2 vehicles and the figures are rising as we speak. It is for this reason that six of the major auto companies have found mention in the list of top 25 best marketing companies in the country. These include Tata Motors, Maruti Udyog, Hero MotoCorp, Mahindra & Mahindra, Hyundai and Volkswagen.

Though auto companies faced difficult times last year, sales figures are slowly being accelerated in the past few months. Bookings of Mahindra & Mahindra XUV500 had to be closed no sooner had it begun due to such tremendous response that the company was finding it difficult to keep up with orders.

Hero Honda became Hero MotoCorp and despite the Honda being removed, Hero still managed to see excellent results. Hyundai sales see increased demand from rural areas while Maruti Suzuki too have increased their rural sales on the past five years from 3.5% to a whopping 26% in 2012. Mayank Pareek, executive officer (marketing & sales), Maruti Suzuki India, said, “You have to invest in gaining their trust and never betray it.”
