Batman fan builds street legal Batmobile
Zac Mihajlovic is an avid movie buff who has always thought Batman had the coolest vehicle. He has turned this dream vehicle into a life sized, street legal Batmobile which he has built in his garage with the help of his grandfather.
29 year old Zac, from South West Sydney, Australia, has spent close to two years to make this dream of his come true. He is now the proud owner of a Batmobile with a full street registration which has been modelled off the car used in the 1989 movie.
It measures 6.2 meters in length and was completed in 2011 while the Batmobile was finally registered in December 2013. Prior to it receiving its number plate most viewers thought it was just a plastic prop and did not give it much attention, but now Zac is mobbed by fans everywhere he goes.
Zac started his Batmobile venture in 2009 when he purchased spare parts from the actual Batmobile used in the movie. These parts were just put away till Zac thought of getting in contact with Warner Brothers Australia to enquire if there was any license issues involved where building his own Batmobile was concerned.
It was only after receiving their nod that Zac and his grandfather, John Greene, a retired mechanical engineer, actually went ahead with the formal construction of the Batmobile to make what was once thought to be just a fantasy, a reality.
