Yamaha India aims to offer best-in-class mileage on all bikes
India Yamaha Motors has extensive plans in place to enhance its position in the country. With air pollution a serious concern and fuel prices being continually escalated, the company wishes to turn their attention to fuel efficient technologies which will go a long way in ensuring its bigger share in the highly competitive two wheeler segment in the country.
Noting the importance that the existence of a higher level of fuel efficiency plays when buyers opt for a new product, Yamaha Motors will now focus on vehicles with enhanced performance and improved mileage. These two factors will be seen in new fuel efficient products and facelifts will be added to the company portfolio in the future with the company products promising best in class mileage besides cleaner auto emissions.
India Yamaha Motors have bikes such as the Fazer, FZ, YZF R15 and scooters which include Ray, Ray Z and Alpha in their company lineup in India. During 2013-14, the company experienced motorcycles sales to the extent of 3,07,511 units and scooter sales of 1,76,981 units.
To enhance operations in the country, a new plant is coming up in Chennai at an investment of INR 1,500 crores ($250 million). This plant will have an initial capacity of 4.5 lakh units per annum while by 2018, this plant will be fully operational with capacity of 18 lakh units per annum.
