2016 Toyota Innova

2016 Toyota Innova and Toyota Fortuner, both slated for launch in India sometime in 2016 are being actively put to test. A second generation mule of 2016 Toyota Innova was spotted in Bangalore, close to the company’s headquarters and manufacturing facility recently, while a next gen Fortuner was spotted in Thailand.

2016 Toyota Innova2016 Toyota Innova based on Toyota’s Innovative International Multi-purpose Vehicle (IMV) platform, will be seen in increased dimensions thus resulting in enhanced interior space and larger boot. Slated to be powered by the same engines as seen on its current model, the engines will be tuned for better fuel efficiency and less noise while they will be compatible with upcoming Bharat Stage VI norms.

Toyota Innova has gained a reputation for being well accepted by both private and fleet owners. Its next generation model will be unveiled later next year while sales should commence sometime in 2016. The new Innova will be an evolution of the current model as the company will not be taking chances in modifying an already proven package. Expected price is pegged at between INR 9-15 lakhs.

2016 Toyota FortunerWhile 2016 Innova is being tested, the 2016 Toyota Fortuner is also making its presence felt on test in Thailand where it is expected to go on sale in certain Southeast Asian countries by late 2015. The model on test sported a redesigned front fascia while weight will be marginally lighter due to the fact that the Fortuner will be based on a new ladder frame chassis.

To be powered by both petrol and diesel engine options, the new Fortuner will see a complete makeover in its front and rear fascia designs. Head and tail lights will be modified while the entire SUV will get a host of chrome accents. The 2016 Toyota Fortuner could be priced in a range of INR 20-26 lakhs while competing with Ford Endeavour, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport, Hyundai Santa Fe and Chevrolet Captiva.
