The 2017 Toyota Etios sedan, hatchback and Cross are all set to launch in Brazil on 20th of this month with a few significant updates. A few images and partial pricing details have emerged online.
Visually, the facelifted Etios series can be differentiated from their respective previous iterations only by means of new alloy wheel design. Inside, the updated cars sport a new fully digital instrument console (continues to be located in the middle of the dashboard). As far as features are concerned, the Etios trio receives cruise control, fifth head restraint, ISOFIX child seat mounts, and three-point seat belts for the fifth passenger.
The most significant update, however, comes from the powertrain department. The 1.3- and 1.5-litre flex-fuel engines are tweaked to offer up to 9% more efficiency. The former gains 8 PS to dish out 98 PS while the latter sports an additional power of 10.5 PS to produce 107 PS. A new 6-speed manual gearbox and a 4-speed automatic gearbox make up the transmission lineup.
The automatic variant of the Etios hatchback is reported to start at 48,293 reals (around 8.93 lakhs). The automatic Etios Cross is said to retail at 62,048 reals (around INR 11.47 lakhs). The automatic sedan is likely to start at 52,883 reals (around INR 9.78 lakhs).
The 2017 Toyota Etios is aimed at squeezing a bit more life out of the aging product. We expect the update to eventually make it to the India-spec Etios series.
