Once launched, Bajaj Pulsar 200 NS FI will replace the existing triple spark, or simple carburettor fuel system system to more advanced fuel injection system. Price of Bajaj Pulsar 200 NS FI is expected to be in the range of Rs 90,000 ex-Maharashtra.
This is not the first time Bajaj is introducing fuel injection system into the Pulsar range. Back in 2007, they launched 220 with FI. That was the first Pulsar to feature FI. This was later discontinued as the FI system made the bike expensive by close to Rs 15,000. The second reason was the unavailability of technical know-how which made it difficult for service centres to solve issues related to the FI system.
But today, the scenario is different. Not only the technology has become cheaper, it has also become widespread. Bajaj ProBiking service guys are well aware of FI system today, thanks to the KTM Duke 200 and Duke 390, which feature FI system as standard.
Spied earlier this year on test near Pune, exclusively by Rush Lane, the new Pulsar 200 NS FI will look no different as compared to the existing 200 NS, the only difference will be the absence of reserve knob in the 200 NS FI.
The other change noticed on website, is that Bajaj mentions the top speed of Pulsar 200 NS as 135 kmph, and that of the 200 NS with FI as 136 kmph. This inspite the fact that power output will continue to be the same at 23.52 PS @ 9500 and 18.3 Nm torque @ 8000 rpm. The FI system is called as TriTec, probably because Bajaj is continuing with the Triple spark combustion system.
