Car number plate X1 up for sale at £1 million: £5 million offer turned down for F1

X1 is set to become the most expensive registration plate in the history as it is now up for sale with a price tag of £1 million. This is a rare registration plate and has been cited as exceptional by many. The plate was originally issued by the Northumberland county council in the year 1903. With a price of £1 million, this plate will fetch £560,000 more than what businessman Afzal Kahn paid for his ‘F1’ plate, which he bought back in 2008 for £440,625 – £375,000 plus VAT. Before F1, the costliest number plate was a M1, which was sold for £331,000 in 2006.

In 2010, BBC reported, that Kahn had been offered £5 million, which was graciously turned down!  The F1 plate has a varied history and is believed to be of a chairman who worked tirelessly for the abolition of the red flag legislation. It can be noted that C.E.O of Kahn Design, Afzal Kahn had also been offered the X1 number plate for 300k, which he refused to buy.

The X1 is now up on sale for £1 million here in the UK. The plate is being sold by, which maintains high hope that this plate will be bought by someone in a very short duration. The individual who decides to buy this plate for the seven figure asking price would also have to spend about £ 26.50 and £ 126 for a new set, and transfer fee, respectively. If the company fails to sell this plate within the next two weeks, it will auction the same online.
