Chevrolet Niva was first launched in Russia back in 1998. The product was from GM-AvtoVAZ, the JV between American car maker GM and Russian car maker AvtoVAZ. Speaking about the new gen Niva, though it has been unveiled in Russia, the car has all the qualities to be a successful global car.
Featuring a permanent all wheel drive system, the new Chevrolet Niva concept is powered by a Peugeot sourced 1.8l petrol engine that generates 135 hp and 170 Nm torque. Transmission is taken care by a 5 speed manual gearbox. Front suspensions are in the form of McPherson struts while rear features independent suspensions.
Compared to the present generation Niva, this one is longer by 260 mm at 4,316 mm, which makes it a perfect rival to cars like Honda Vezel, Renault Duster, Hyundai ix25 and Nissan Terrano.
