71,000 fans and racing aficionados gathered at Oschersleben this past weekend to witness the exciting events unfold. As the eighth race of the current season at Oschersleben drew to a close, Gary Paffett and Jamie Green were seen on the podium finishing second and third in the events. Paffett was on 127 points and still leading the championships, 11 points ahead of his closest competition Jamie Green, who is third in standings and holds 108 points.
For Gary Paffett this is his 30th podium finish in his DTM career and his third at Oschersleben while for Green this is his 20th podium at DTM. It was Bruno Spengler who touched in first last weekend at Oschersleben. Speaking of Mercedes Benz victories since 1988 this was the 488th podium in a total of 351 races while the 8th podium in the current year.
The 8th race of the season at Oschersleben was the 140th race of the new DTM since the year 2000. In these past years Mercedes Benz has received 81 wins, 62 pole positions and 83 fastest laps. Paffett spoke of his performance after the races. He commended Bruno Spengler on his victory and was happy with his lead in the championship with a second place. He now looks forward to the last two races of this season in Valencia and Hockenheim and the next race in Spain.
