General Motors India CSR activity in schools

General Motors Sankalp School

CSR initiatives are important to corporations. General Motors Technical Center India (GMTC-I) hosted fund raising activity in April 2014 to cater to education needs of Gunjur Government School students in Bangalore.

General Motors Sankalp SchoolHaving been associated since 2011, GMTC-I raise funds to better infrastructural support and nutritional assistance to these children. Distribution of school kits and stationery took place this month at the start of the academic year. GMTC-I aims to make education accessible to as many underprivileged children in the area.

Volunteers are responsible for learning sessions, teach English and introduce kids to science projects. Students also visit GMTC-I, and participate in school related events. Sports too plays an important role, and back in December, GMTC-I distributed indestructible One World Futbols Gunjur students on their annual sports day.

General Motors Gunjur SchoolLast month, Mr. Arvind Saxena, President & MD, General Motors India handed over a cheque for Rs 150,000 to Sankalp School authorities towards education, meals and hygiene of One Class, an initiative to ensure overall development. The school run by ‘Sankalp Welfare Society’ NGO in Gurgaon sees committed support from GM in the future as well.

Since association these past few years, GM India has organized student activities for the school. This includes educational training programs, road safety classes and visits to GM headquarters for training and education purposes. Last year, GM India delighted the kids on Children’s Daywith 91 indestructible ‘One World Futbols’ so they can enjoy football in school premises
