A video of India-spec Maruti S-Cross has surfaced, giving us new details about the equipment list. Interestingly, S-Cross offers first-in-class dual zone automatic climate control which is sure to give it an edge over its rivals Renault Duster and Hyundai Creta.
As noted in earlier reports, Maruti has tweaked the crossover’s exterior appearance to suit Indian tastes. For starters, an understated front grille has been replaced by a bolder unit with twin silver slats. Other salient visual features include silver skid plates on both bumpers, new alloy wheel design, ORVMs with integrated turn indicators, chrome embellished foglight enclosures and projector headlamps with integrated daytime running lights.
Interior is finished in black with silver accents. Apart from dual zone climate control, Maruti S-Cross also gets SmartPlay touchscreen infotainment system, multifunction steering wheel and rear AC vents. Safety features include dual front airbags and ABS with EBD.
The 5-seater is powered by 1.6-litre DDiS engine (Fiat-sourced MultiJet) which also powers the international variant. The oil burner is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission to produce a healthy 120 PS and 320 Nm of torque. Suzuki AllGrip all-wheel drive system is likely to be given a miss for India.
Some reports suggest that the familiar 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engine would propel the base variant with a 5-speed manual transmission.
Expect the Maruti S-Cross to be priced in the range of INR 8-11.5 lakhs (ex-showroom).
