At 25.8 kmpl, the upcoming Honda Amaze is sure to surprise all auto enthusiasts once it makes its entry into Indian markets on April 11, 2013. As promised by Honda India, Amaze will indeed set benchmarks in the segment. See the development story of Amaze in the gallery below.
Honda Amaze will be fitted with a new 1.5 liter four cylinder i-DTEC diesel engine derived from a 1.6 liter Earth Dreams model while internal space will also be at a premium. The new Honda Amaze will measure 3,990 mm in length offering cabin comforts to even those passengers in the 6 foot category.
The ARAI certified 25.8 kmpl mileage is due to the hard work from Honda’s R&D team in Thailand. On asking, since when the Amaze project was in pipeline, Honda India says it is not their policy to reveal timeline.
The newly developed engine oil from Honda also helps in attaining this class leading mileage. However, users will need to bear in mind that changing the engine oil for another brand will mean reduced fuel efficiency by 5%, but no harm will be done to the engine or its performance, unless it is of the same grade and standard.
The diesel engine besides contributing to enhanced fuel efficiency is also the most powerful in its class and delivers output of 100 PS power and 200 Nm torque. Honda Amaze will also be offered with a petrol engine option which will come in with a 1.2 liter i-VTEC engine found in the current Brio. This engine delivers 88 PS power and 109 Nm torque and fuel efficiency is pegged at 15.5 kmpl for AT and 18 kmpl for MT.
The Amaze is scheduled to compete with Maruti Suzuki DZire which offers fuel efficiency of 23.4 kmpl. Honda Amaze price details will be revealed officially on the 11th April 2013. Bookings of the Amaze are now open at Honda Cars India dealerships across India. Price of Amaze petrol variant is expected to start at INR 6 lakhs while the diesel Amaze might start at INR 7 lakhs.
