Honda has successfully launched their new Amaze, an entry level sedan with a diesel engine. Prices commence from Rs 4.99 lakhs for the base petrol variant, while Amaze is the first ever diesel engine from Honda stables to be launched in the Indian auto market. It is slated to offer unsurpassed engine performance besides best in class mileage. The company is projecting these two factors to ensure that the new sedan stand head and shoulders above the Maruti Suzuki DZire. Rs 5.99 lakh starting price for Amaze diesel certainly works in it’s favour, and fuel economy of 25.8 kmpl from the i-DTEC engine will not be so easily passed over for another compact sedan. The quintessential kitna deti hai query response for the vehicle does instill faith, fervour, and favour.
It remains to be seen now whether the auto markets will veer towards Amaze from the much loved Maruti DZire or whether die hard Maruti aficionados will continue to pay allegiance to the Maruti Suzuki DZire. It should also be kept in mind, that while Honda has a presentable number of touchpoints in India, Maruti Suzuki is unbeatable in terms of sales outlets across the length and breadth of the country.
Honda market share, where passenger cars are concerned, has dipped from in recent years here. Its Brio small car, compact Jazz and lack of a diesel engined vehicle at a time when the market saw a shift towards diesel engines all resulted in lower sales. Honda Amaze is expected to conquer these constraints with the company expecting highest sales volumes per month from the Amazse sedan. Honda is also introducing attractive ad campaigns both in print and TV, which is being showcased in a variety of regional languages, in a bid to connect with the mindset of Indian buyers in favor of Honda Amaze.
