Honda Brio based diesel car appears on their official Thailand website
Honda India has already announced that Brio compact sedan with state of the art diesel engine will be launched in India next year. This new Honda diesel car, once it makes its way into Indian car markets, could give segment toppers like Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Tata Indigo Manza, Hyundai Verna, etc some serious competition. This same car, will also be launched in Thailand, probably before India. Now, a teaser image of this upcoming Honda car has made its way to Honda Thailand website.
Honda Brio compact sedan will also be available in petrol variant which is likely to have a 1.2 liter i-VTEC petrol engine thus sharing its petrol engine with that of the current Brio hatchback. Size will be restricted to under 4 meters with petrol engine capacity of below 1.2 liters while diesel engine capacity will be maintained at below 1.5 liters, so as to be classified as a small car taking advantage of the Indian small car guidelines of lower excise duties.
It is this diesel engine that is expected to turn things around for Honda which till date does not possess a diesel engined vehicle. A City diesel and Jazz diesel are also expected to be launched which will go a long way in helping to revive sales of Honda which received a setback due to the exodus towards petrol engined cars in the past year. Honda Brio compact sedan is expected to sell in India, Thailand and Brazil.
Apart from this, India will see the launch of Brio Automatic tomorrow. Honda Cars India is yet to reveal price, but they have stated that it will be priced around Rs 60,000 to Rs 70,000 higher than its manual transmission variant.
