Honda Project 2&4 open wheeled sportscar teased ahead of IAA 2015 debut

Honda Project 2&4 opened wheeled street legal sportscar has been teased ahead of its world premiere on September 15 at IAA 2015 (Frankfurt Motor Show). The high performance machine is a joint work of the Japanese auto giant’s two and four wheeler divisions and hence the name 2&4.

The tricky teaser shows the top view of right half of the car. One can see the wheels, double wishbone suspension system, rear-mounted engine, aircraft style fuel filler cap and an aerodynamic body work. It remains to be seen if the cockpit is enclosed or open like in other road legal open wheel vehicles like Aerial Atom, KTM X-Bow and Polaris Slingshot.

Designed by Honda’s motorcycle design centre at Asaka and four wheeler design centre at Wako, Japan, Project 2&4 is claimed to offer freedom of a motorcycle and maneuverability of a car. The company has hinted that the high-performance sportscar could derive its engine from the mental RC213V-S road legal hyperbike which in turn borrows heavily from the brand’s multiple MotoGP championship winning RC213V race bike.

More details and production prospects will be revealed at the world premiere. Expect Honda Project 2&4 to have a power-to-weight ratio that could put several supercars to shame.
