Honda Vezel SUV which made its debut at the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show last month, will go on sale across Japan, starting tomorrow. To be offered in a choice of petrol and hybrid engine options, Vezel is also expected to star at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo.

For Japan, Vezel will be offered with a 1.5 liter petrol and a hybrid variant. The hybrid variant will be fitted with a Sport Hybrid i-DCD system that combines 1.5 liter direct injection engine with a high output motor to deliver power equivalent to a 2.0 liter engine.

Internal features include electronic parking brake and automatic brake hold and are specially designed to offer added space for driver and front passenger and enhanced comforts for those at the rear.

Speaking about their new car, Honda says, it is a “new vehicle that brings together the dynamic qualities of an SUV, the elegance of a coupe and the functionality of a minivan, which combined will deliver excellent fuel economy. A 4WD option will be available for both hybrid and petrol variants.”

Honda is also eager to introduce the Vezel in India, but this will not happen in a hurry as the company already has a great line-up for 2014, which includes the new City sedan, Mobilio MPV and Jazz hatchback. Vezel might be launched in 2015 in India, where it will compete with the likes of Renault Duster, Ford EcoSport, and Maruti XA Alpha (which too is expected for a launch in the same year). Apart from India, Honda has confirmed that Vezel will be launched in Europe by 2015.
