Bolero has lived with us for past 13 years with only few mods in recent years. It is indeed time Mahindra launches a facelift or next generation bolero, and they seem to be working on that, says spied mule. With the success XUV500 sees, engineers at Mahindra are clearly keen on passing its styling cues to rest of siblings as well. Mahindra Scorpio facelift, Bolero facelift (or new gen) and Codename S101 are yet to show themselves at showrooms soon.
The Bolero test mule in picture seems to carry same physical characteristics as current version, and retains old school halogen tail lamps. However the new Bolero will be built on new hydroformed ladder frame chassis and the vehicle could fall in sub-4m space. But much like Bolero’s second extra long variant offering (Bolero plus), new version could also sport the same approach.
Expected powertrain on Mahindra Bolero’s next release is Quanto’s 1.5 litre 3 cylinder diesel engine coupled to a 5-speed gearbox and possible AMT (Automated Manual Transmission) as well. Present Bolero’s 2.5 litre 4-cylinder engine delivers 63 bhp max. power @ 3,200 rpm and 180 Nm peak torque at @ 1,440 rpm.
Price of current gen Mahindra Bolero DI AC BS III is around Rs. 6.25 lakhs, ex-showroom Delhi.
