M&M’s new limited edition XUV500 Sportz will be priced at around INR 50,000-75,000 more than the W8 variant. Brochure leaks and photos reveal purely cosmetic updates to include decals and red coloured accents seen on fog lamps, door handles and alloy wheels while special ‘Sportz’ badging will set it apart. Buyers will be able to opt for black interiors with white exteriors as against the current XUV500 which receives white exteriors and beige interiors.
Interiors will receive well designed leather seats and restyled arm rests while safety features will include reverse camera, front, side and curtain airbags and automatic wipers. The Limited Edition XUV Sportz receives a 6” infotainment display with GPS and will get automatic climate control.
Where mechanics on board the Sportz edition is concerned there will be no changes as the limited edition is powered by the same 2.2 liter mHawk engine seen on board the XUV500. This engine is capable of peak power of 140 bhp at 3,750 rpm and peak torque of 330 Nm at 1,600 to 2,800 rpm mated to a 6 speed manual gearbox, while an automatic version is also stated to be in the works.
Mahindra XUV500 has been a top performer ever since it was launched in 2011. Priced in the INR 10- 15 lakh segment and abounding in features, the car was the first attempt by M&M to establish itself as a global auto maker. Since then, they have progressed well to establish the same. Mahindra now owns South Korea’s SsangYong brand, expanded their reach to US, Europe and Africa.
