Maruti Celerio, slated to come in to replace the Maruti A Star in India and Suzuki Alto across the globe, will be seen with automated manual transmission (AMT). It is now revealed that this AMT technology on board the Celerio, will be called ‘EZ DRIVE’.

Maruti Celerio clutchless technology called EZ Drive (1)AMT is clutchless transmission with manual gears. Developed by Magneti Marelli, the technology is based on electronic control unit and hydraulic system which in turn controls the clutch and gear shifting features. The technology goes a long way in allowing the driver to change gears minus the use of clutch, whether sequentially or fully automatically.

Celerio will go on display at the upcoming 2014 Auto Expo. To be powered by same 1.0 liter K Series three cylinder engine, doing duty on Alto K10 and A-Star, the engine is capable of 68 PS power and 90 Nm torque. (source)
