A replacement to the Maruti Suzuki SX4, the new Ciaz was seen earlier this year in concept format at 2014 Auto Expo. A near production model made its presence felt at Beijing Motor Show in April though under the name of Alivio.
The soon to be launched Maruti Ciaz is based on Suzuki Authentics concept car and will receive both petrol and diesel engine options. Its petrol engine will be as seen on Ertiga MPV in the form of a 1.4 liter four cylinder K Series engine while its diesel counterpart will be a 1.3 liter Multijet diesel powering the SX4. Transmission options on offer will be manual by default, by a CVT might just make its may to the petrol.
Features on board the top end Ciaz will include double barrel head lights with projectors, rear AC vents, climate control and steering mounted controls. The new Ciaz will also sport engine start button, keyless entry and safety features such as ABS and EBD with a minimum of two airbags. Sitting on 16” alloy wheels, the Ciaz will have driver seat with height adjustments, a dead pedal and leather seating in its interiors.
Set to be a major game changer for the country’s leading automaker, the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz success will all depend on its price tag.
