Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution Hybrid coming soon, to be more powerful than the current Evo X
We cannot say that this was not on the cards, but were just not sure when this would happen. Finally Japanese car manufacturer, Mitsubishi Motors has announced the launch of their next Lancer Evolution variant, and as predicted it’s a hybrid one.
Speaking about their next version of Lancer Evo X, Mr Osamu Masuko, President, Mitsubishi Motors, said, “We will start work on the project next year, and it will be ready within three years. I have set the goal of developing a sporting car featuring electric power.”
Earlier this year, Mitsubishi Motors had shocked their fans the world over when they announced that they will be stopping the production of their Lancer Evolution X and the current variant will be last one of the series. But now they have made an about-turn and announced the launch of next gen Lancer Evolution.
Considering this one to be a hybrid variant, Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution Hybrid will not be low on power by any chance. Instead it will be more powerful and keep its rally car image intact. Along with the petrol engine, Mitsubishi will be installing electric motors (approx. 2). Petrol engine will drive the rear wheels and electric engines will drive the front one’s.
The current Evo’s petrol engine thumps 291 bhp, but the next gen Hybrid Evo X, thanks to the extra 63 bhp from the new electric motor, will thump more than 350 bhp!!! While driving around in busy traffic, only the electric motors will be used, keeping the environment happy. But once you hit the highway, both petrol and electric motors will work in tandem to give you the power of 350 horses.
