Engine options for upcoming next-gen Ford Figo compact sedan and hatchback to comprise of the company’s current engines, which are reworked to satisfy general customer feedback.
2015 Ford Figo twins were speculated to host a new petrol engine, which will be the same 1.2 litre 4-cylinder motor doing duty in outgoing Figo model, but reworked to fit new cylinder head and peripherals. The engine will have Ford TiVCT technology courtesy of the new head kit, which enables Variable Cam Timing. The motor will not be turbocharged unlike recent trend.
The new engine is expected to produce max power of around 85 PS (the one in older model of Figo churned out only 71 PS). Same motor will be used in both compact sedan and hatchback versions.
Diesel variants of new Ford Figo twins will use the same 1.5 litre Duratorq engine, which produces 91 PS peak power in Fiesta sedan and EcoSport crossover. Power and torque figures of this engine in Figo twins, would most likely vary, to promise highly competitive mileage.
The general customer feedback that was mentioned above pertains to the inadequate low-end grunt or initial pickup, which is said to be rectified in new versions of Figo’s engines.
