From being 8th in the Indian auto industry before the launch of Amaze, to grabbing the 4th spot after the launch of City sedan, Honda has seen this remarkable turn-around all in less than a year. But this is definitely not where they want to stop, or stagnate.
Plans are in place to launch new cars and increase the number of dealerships. The next in line from Honda is the Mobilio MPV, after which the Jazz will be launched. Along with the petrol engine, both these cars will be offered with a diesel engine option as well. Mobilio will be launched by second quarter of 2014/15 fiscal, while Jazz will be launched by last quarter.
They have also increased their footprint, and plan to add more dealerships. Honda aims to increase the dealership count to 230 in 150 cities by next year. Apart from this, they have also added a new car production plant, which will see their output double to 20,000 units per month. Honda aims to achieve 3 lakh unit sales by 2017.
This will be achieved by a combined effort off all the above mentioned points, increased investments, launch of new cars, growing footprint, adding new cities to their roster, and increasing production.
After the launch of Jazz, it is now revealed by Autocar India that Honda might bring the CR-V SUV with diesel engine. This will be a 1.6l diesel engine generating 118 hp power and a massive 300 Nm torque. Expected to be priced from Rs 25 lakhs, the diesel CR-V launch will be followed by Accord diesel launch.
