New Maruti Alto 800 launched to rival Renault Kwid and Datsun Redi-Go

Price of the new Alto 800 facelift starts from INR 2.49 lakh.

Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL), leading automakers in India has updated their best selling car, the Alto 800. Losing to the likes of Renault Kwid and Hyundai Eon in the past few monhs, new Maruti Alto 800 facelift sports a host of cosmetic updates and also comes with a more fuel efficient engine.

Exteriors

Exteriors of 2016 Maruti Alto 800 Facelift include new front grille, revised bumpers and new turn indicators with yellow light. It also gets new elliptical headlight, fog lamp enclosures, revised wheel caps and new tail lamps while overall length has been increased by 35mm resulting in added interior space.

The front bumper gets redesigned and comes with a trapezoidal air intake which is not seen on the outgoing model. Dimensions now stand at 3430 mm length, 1490 mm breadth, 1475 mm height while its wheelbase measures 2360 mm.

Side and rear profiles see no significant changes. Alto 800 will come in six exterior colour options of Silky Silver, Granite Grey, Superior White, Blazing Red while Cerulean Blue and Mojito Green are the new colors on offer.

Interiors

Interior have been redesigned as well. It receive a new dark grey color scheme. Rear seats receive integrated headrests while seat and door trims get matching fabric. Front passenger seat has a storage pocket while all variants receive rear child locking system.

2016 Maruti Alto 800 Facelift base trims get passenger side exterior mirror as standard. LXi and VXi trims get added storage facilities at the rear along with power windows and central locking. Driver airbag is offered as an option from the base trim onwards which is priced at INR 6,000.

Engine and Mileage

2016 Maruti Alto 800 Facelift is powered by petrol, diesel and CNG engine options as is seen on its outgoing counterpart. It gets a 796cc, three cylinder petrol engine offering 47 bhp power at 6,000 rpm and 69 Nm torque at 3,500 rpm mated to a 5 speed manual transmission. Prices according to variant range from INR 2.49 to INR 3.34 lakh.
