With sales registering decline for 10th consecutive month in July 2015, Nissan India may finally have an all-new product to mitigate the damage. Autocar India reports that new Nissan X-Trail which was globally unveiled two years ago is finally coming to India in the festive season (by November).
Nissan entered India back in 2004 with the previous gen X-Trail which was then a niche product. Fast forward 10 years, its successor will cater to a promising premium SUV segment which is growing at an impressive rate.
The new gen SUV is the first product to be based on Renault-Nissan’s modular CMF platform and is essentially a 7-seat version of Qashqai. Donning Nissan’s latest global design theme, the crossover SUV has the stance, swag and equipment to evoke the interest of Indian customers.
Powertrain option for India is expected to comprise a 150 PS 2.0-litre dCi diesel motor borrowed from Renault, mated either to a 6-speed manual gearbox or a CVT. Top-end variant will have an electronic shift-on-the-fly 4WD system.
Expect the fully loaded trim to offer 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, ESP, traction control, Hill Descent Control, powered front seats, touchscreen infotainment system with reverse parking camera, navigation system and many more.
