The next gen Scania truck range which has been in the making for 10 years made its world premiere. The new truck range project carries an investment of SEK 20 billion (over INR 16,000 crores) which is the highest in Scania’s 125-year history.
Scania says that the new products focus on “customer profitability, through precisely customised transportation solutions in the form of sustainable products and services”.
The truck range gets new aesthetics, aerodynamically optimized cabin, and a range of new technologies and connected services. The interiors are luxurious, very comfortable, and richly equipped. Thanks to improved powertrains, Scania is claiming that the new truck range will offer 5% reduction in diesel fuel consumption.
Unveiling the trucks in Paris, Henrik Henriksson, President and CEO of Scania said that the vehicles are designed to offer sustainable profitability for 2 million km. The next gen Scania truck range comes with industry-first rollover side curtain airbags.
The new trucks also benefit from repositioned front axle and lower centre of gravity that leads to better braking performance. Enhanced visibility, improved serviceability (modular construction). As far as sustainability goes, the company says that it has solutions to comply with CO2 norms of 2030, and it will offer hybrid, gas, bioethanol and biodiesel engines.
