Nissan India Parts Distribution Centre (PDC) in Chennai

Mr.R.Manga Babu (IRS) Commissioner of Central Excise (Chennai) inaugurated Nissan Motor’s new after-sales parts distribution centre in Chennai. Kenichiro Yomura, President, Nissan Indian operations, Sunil Rekhi, Chief Financial Officer, Nissan Motor India and RNAIPL, Shuji Ueno, Vice-president-After Sales, Nissan India, Isamu Yoneyama, Managing Director, Yusen Logistics and Brian Oravec,Indospace were also in attendance.

Kenichiro Yomura, President, Nissan India Operations, said, “Customer satisfaction is one of our key focus areas this fiscal year. Our new after-sales Parts Distribution Centre reaffirms our commitment to our customers in India. Efficient supply of spare parts across our existing service network is imperative to complement our plan to increase our sales touchpoints.”

Yomura added, “Our plan is to have a hub-and-spoke parts distribution model. We will set up additional spare parts distribution centres in other locations in India in coming months, while Chennai will be the distribution hub.”

Situated at Indospace SKCL Industrial Park in Sriperumbudur Taluk near Chennai, it is built over an area of 4.8 lakh sq. feet (45,000 sq. metre) and was built in 11 months. Featuring a daily outbound volume of 2800 lines per day as compared to the previous facility’s 700 lines, it has an increased dispatch rate of 90%. This ensures same day dispatches to different parts of India. Employing about 300 floor members, the facility houses a separate office and canteen blocks. Material storage facility comprises heavy duty racking, shelving racks, stillage and trolleys. State of the art forklifts and reach trucks are in use for material handling. Managed by Nissan Motor India Private Ltd with support of Indospace, Yusen Logistics and Nippon Express, it embodies Nissan’s global safety and efficiency standards of supply chain management. PDC operations begin at a time Nissan is witnessing growth in India as well as in export volumes from here.
