Though four cylinder, the 2.0 litre turbocharged petrol engine plonked in Macan is no less sporty, with Porsche claiming 6.9 seconds for a 0-100 kmph sprint, all the way upto 224 kmph tops. The 2.0 litre engine gives out 239PS of max power and 350 Nm of peak torque, mated to a seven-speed Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) with paddle shifters behind the steering wheel. This engine is similar to one found in Volkswagen Golf GTI Performance Pack that churns out 230PS max. power and 349.7 Nm max. torque and sends to Porsche’s same seven-speed PDK gearbox.
This new base Macan, will sit below the Macan S, Macan S Diesel and Macan Turbo. On comparing base version of Macan with Macan S, one will find huge difference as the 3.0 litre V6 petrol engine driving latter pushes out 330 PS max. power and 459.6 Nm max. torque. Macan S sprints 0-100 kmph in 5.4 seconds, and reaches a top speed of 256 kmph.
Macan S Diesel features 3.0l V6 generating 258 hp power and 580 Nm torque. It has a top speed of 230 km/h (142 mph) and a 0-100 kmph acceleration time of 6.3 secs. While Macan Turbo features 3.6l V6 delivering 400 hp and 550 Nm torque. It has a top speed of 266 km/h (165 mph) and a 0-100 kmph time of 4.8 seconds.
To visually differentiate four-cylinder Macan from S and Turbo variants, the dual pipe exhaust setup will feature only one pipe on each side in black accents only, unlike bigger brothers that get two pipes on each side in chrome or body coloured finish. Base Macan comes equipped only with standard 18 inch alloy wheels, but it can be upgraded. Other features that Macan 2.0 will not inherit from S and Turbo models include Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), Park Assist System, and some internal & external trims.
Otherwise, this entry level Macan receives a similar laundry list of optional (paid) features to get it customised to buyer’s taste. Macan 2.0 will be launched in select Asian markets in the beginning, and might find its way into Indian and UK line-up next year.
