Renault is working on launching their first MPV in the country, the rebadged Dacia Lodgy. India will be the only country where Logdy will wear Renault moniker and this is the only market where the MPV will have Right Hand Drive (RHD) configuration.Soon after Renault Lodgy is launched, the French carmaker will prepare the launch of a new small car, for which India will be the debut market. It will be a sub-Rs. 4 lakh product rivalling Maruti Alto, Hyundai Eon, Datsun Go and the like.
Codename XBA will be the first product on Renault-Nissan’s new vehicle platform CMF-A (Common Module Family – Affordable). The architecture is being designed and developed to spawn low-budget products catering to markets worldwide. According to Carlos Ghosn, Chairman and CEO of Nissan and Renault combined, CMF-A would be an India-based platform, designed by Indian engineers.
Sumit Sawhney, CEO and Managing Director of Renault India, has indicated that India will be an export hub for Renault XBA hatchback.
