Retro taxi and Rafael Nadal at 2013 Bacardi Limited Champions Drink Responsibly Mallorca party
The Bacardi Limited Global Social Responsibility Ambassador hosted “The Champions’ Party” for the lucky “Mix with Rafa” promotion winners and their guests at the luxury villa of Castell de Manresa. The partygoers were treated to amazing music from a host of live entertainers and DJs – including Rafa – while they enjoyed delicious local food and great-tasting Bacardi cocktails and mocktails (non-alcohol cocktails).
The “Mix with Rafa” promotion was part of the award-winning Bacardi Limited “Champions Drink Responsibly” social responsibility campaign featuring Nadal. Legal drinking age consumers who correctly answered three questions online relating to responsible drinking behavior were entered in a free prize drawing to win an all-inclusive trip to “The Champions’ Party” and socialize with the tennis star in-person.
The “Champions Drink Responsibly” campaign reinforces the important message that everyone can behave like a Champion by drinking responsibly and still have a great night out. It encourages legal drinking age consumers to have a fun and memorable evening by adopting a few simple behaviors. By having a plan and knowing transportation alternatives before they leave home, they can make sure everyone gets home safely. Rafa encourages responsible consumers to enjoy delicious cocktails, but also to pace themselves and take a “Time Out” throughout the night with some mouthwatering mocktails. By staying in control, responsible consumers can look out for their friends and have a better, safer night out.
“It was an amazing weekend and I really enjoyed hosting ‘The Champions’ Party.’ I invited some of my closest friends to the party, too, and everyone had a great evening. I’m happy so many people connected with the online promotion,” said Rafa Nadal, the Bacardi Limited Global Social Responsibility Ambassador. “Through the ongoing ‘Champions Drink Responsibly’ campaign, I am making a difference by spreading the word to a global audience about the importance of drinking responsibly. However, while taking the stage to DJ was a lot of fun and my mocktail-making skills are improving all the time, I think I will continue to focus on my tennis career!”
The winners from Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, China, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Singapore, Spain, Thailand, United Kingdom, United States, and Venezuela spent the weekend on the beautiful Spanish island of Mallorca. They met Rafa, his friends, and Laura Whitmore, one of the UK’s most popular DJs and television personalities – who helped Rafa get the party started.

The tennis star showed off his mixing skills on the DJ decks and his mixology skills behind the bar, where he shook up some mocktails for his guests. One mocktail was his namesake – Rafa’s Champions’ Mix – a refreshingly sweet apple and ginger beer based non-alcohol drink. Taking cues from Rafa, the winners learned how to mix their very own mocktails and spin tunes as DJs. They also starred in their own version of the Champions “Time Out” advertisement by making the universal T-sign hand gesture, and were photographed next to a cool, retro-looking taxi to reinforce the safe transportation option at the Latino-themed party.
“It was an amazing experience to DJ at ‘The Champions’ Party.’ It was a great night, and I was thrilled to meet Rafa and all the winners,” said Laura Whitmore. “Rafa is such a lovely guy, a true Champion and you can see how important the ‘Champions Drink Responsibly’ campaign is to him. It was a brilliant party, and the cocktails were delicious!”
