Tata Bolt 120 hp performance variant heads to Geneva
Tata Motors will be showing off a new Tata Bolt at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, which kicks off next week. So what’s the big news, as Bolt and Zest have already made their European debut at last edition of Geneva Motor Show.
The big news is that this special Tata Bolt for 2015 Geneva Motor Show will be a more powerful and sporty variant as compared to the one which is currently on sale in India
This new Tata Bolt will receive the same 1.2 liter Revotron petrol engine, which delivers 90 PS on regular Bolt, will deliver about 120 bhp peak power. Torque will also be increased significantly. The engine will be mated to a Fiat C501 gearbox that is seen on the company’s diesel multi jet engined models.
Apart from the bump in power, various sporty accents will highlight the Tata Bolt at this year’s show. This will include a flared body work and 17” wheels. Besides adding sporty accents to its exteriors, interiors of the new Bolt will also bear some sporty features while a stiffer damper will enhance suspension. This new sporty Tata Bolt 120 hp variant will see lowered ground clearance.
Tata Bolt 120 hp variant is part of Tata Motors’ new performance division, which the carmaker is planning on launching later this year in India. Under this new brand, we will get to see performance variants of all Tata car in the market, which will be launched subsequently.
This is one fantastic move by the Indian car maker, which was not known for producing performance cars. Not only this will help Tata Motors improve their brand image by leaps and bounds, it will also give them a competitive product for launch in European markets.
Only time will tell how successful this move proves to be in the long term, but as of now it sounds just amazing. What do you think?
