The images show the Tata Bolt hatchback in a similar shade to that of EcoSport orange, which they call it Mars Red. Anyways, the Bolt looks quite attractive in this shade. The stylish LED headlights and tail lamps and a higher stance from the ground, makes the Bolt look more like a mini Crossover, than a hatchback.
To be launched in India by Diwali 2014, Tata Bolt will be available with petrol and diesel engine option. The petrol engine on offer, would be Tata’s in-house built 1.2l Revotron engine. Tata Bolt and Zest will be the first products ever to be fitted with the new 1.2l Revotron engine. This engine will deliver 85 PS power at 5,000 rpm, and 140 Nm torque at 1,750 – 3,000 rpm. As far as transmission option is concerned, the petrol Bolt will come with only manual transmission option.
For diesel Bolt, Tata Motors will use the trusted 1.3L MultiJet mill from Fiat. This engine is capable of delivering 70 PS power and 190 Nm torque. Just like it’s petrol counterpart, this one too will be offered with manual transmission option.
But, you can expect Tata to offer an AMT option at a later stage. This can be assumed because Tata has confirmed that they will offer an AMT option for the diesel powered Zest sedan, which too is built on the same platform, and is powered by the same set of engines.
As far as features is concerned, the new Tata cars will be unlike any of their previous cars. They will be more feature rich, than what we have seen in the existing Indica and Vista range. Bolt and Zest will include touch screen, navigation, text to speech, phone connectivity, state of the art infotainment system from Harmann, Bluetooth, and voice recognition.
