Tata Kite sedan spied testing on Kari Motor Speedway track
Following the footsteps of Tata Zest compact sedan, Tata Motors’ next offering of the same body type, codenamed Kite, appears to be a slightly shrunken version of the aforementioned. To the extent of revelation under the camouflage, Tata Kite compact sedan seems to carry highly similar traits to the Zest, when looking at its front grille, headlamps, ORVM caps, character lines (dubbed slingshot line in Zest), Day Light Opening (DLO) and shape of the boot.
The Indigo eCS replacement will be powered by same 1.2 litre Revotron petrol engine introduced in Zest (most likely without the turbocharger) and new 1.05 litre diesel engine set for debut in the Kite. To position Tata Kite sedan distinctly lower than Zest (to avoid cannibalisation), the 90 PS 1.2 Revotron engine would be tuned to produce much lesser peak power, say in the vicinity of 70 PS. The new diesel engine would also produce only as much or even lesser.
Needless to say, the engines to be doing duty in Tata Kite sedan will be shared with Kite hatchback without any change.
