It was last April that Dan Price, CEO of Gravity Payments, decided to raise employee wages to $70,000 (INR46,98,750). These 120 employees were so grateful for this significant increase in salary that they decided to collect their savings and recently presented Price with a Tesla Model S as a token of appreciation for this gesture.
Elated by this unexpected gift and touched by the response of his employees, Price immediately uploaded this news on his Facebook page while the company uploaded a video of the same.
Even as Price enjoys the tag of being the world’s best boss, he has cut down his own salary from $1.1 million to $70,000 to facilitate this raise. There were some speculations indicating that Price announced this hike in wages so as to avoid an impending lawsuit brought on by his brother and co-founder Lucas Price, but the poster that read “Dan: Thank you for always putting the team before yourself” was testimony of the fact that this gesture was really appreciated by the employees. The gift of the new Tesla Model S was initiated and organized by Alyssa O’Neal, an employee who was most impacted by this hike in wages while surprisingly the price of the Tesla Model S is $70,000.
