Having registered bookings of over 30,000 units, Toyota Innova Crysta demand has not only surprised analysts, but also the manufacturer. This huge booking order has resulted in the waiting period to increase to 4 months.
In order to bring waiting period down, the company has decided to boost production from this month. Of the total bookings, 50% are for the top-end 2.8 Z AT variant, which is priced from INR 20.78 lakhs (ex-showroom).
Following this increased demand, the company has increased production from 6,000 units in June to 7,800 units in July. Toyota has appealed to suppliers to speed up supplies to allow the company to reach these targets. Sales in June2016 stood at 7,500 units thus overtaking sales of two popular SUVs in the market – Maruti Suzuki Brezza and Hyundai Creta.
Toyota Innova Crsyta is powered by a 2.8 liter GD turbo diesel engine offering 174 PS power and 360 Nm torque and a 2.4 liter GD diesel engine capable of 149 PS power and 343 Nm torque. While the former is mated to a 6-speed automatic gearbox, the latter receives a 5-speed manual gearbox.
Later this year, the company will also be introducing a petrol variant of Toyota Innova Crysta following ban on diesel powered vehicles with displacement over 2000 cc introduced by Supreme Court in Delhi NCR. This variant is expected to be powered by a 2.7L VVT-i four cylinder engine with production set to commence from later this month.
