Toyota RAV4 electric SUV to debut at International Electric Vehicle Symposium on 7th May

The all new Toyota RAV4 EV will make its entrance at the Electric Vehicle Symposium to be held in Lost Angeles on 7th May. The 26th EVS will see a number of vehicles on display but Toyota’s new RAV4 EV will hold special significance. The Toyota news conference will be held at 12.00 noon on Monday, 7th May, 2012 at West Hall in LA Convention Centre.

Toyota will be officially introducing the new RAV4 EV during the show and it may be remembered that Toyota RAV4 EV is part of a $100 million partnership deal together with Toyota and Tesla. While Toyota will be responsible for the vehicle and its production which will be carried out at the company plant in Ontario, Canada, Tesla will supply the battery, motor and gear box along with power electronics for the same.

RAV4 EV will be built on the RAV4 chassis manufactured by Toyota. RAV4 EV is an all electric version of RAV4 SUV but instead of gasoline powered drive train it will sport an all electric drive train with parts supplied by Tesla Motors. Specifications will be revealed at the Symposium while launch is expected in July 2012.

Torrance, Calif., April 30, 2012—Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc., will debut the all new RAV4 EV at the 26th International Electric Vehicle Symposium (EVS26) in Los Angeles.
