Volkswagen Beetle electric concept and Jetta hybrid unveiled at Detroit Motor Show

Volkswagen AG unveiled their all electric concept Beetle earlier today at the Detroit Motor Show. Along with the VW Beetle electric you will also find the all new Jetta Hybrid, which is expected to be launched later this year in major markets around the world.

Volkswagen AG, the German car manufacturer is looking forward to overtake General Motors US as the world’s largest auto manufacturer by 2018 and in order to achieve that dream, VW will be launching cars with hybrid and electric technology as they believe that the future belongs to hybrid and electric technology.

All new VW Jetta Hybrid is powered by a 1.4L four cylinder TSI generating maximum power of 150 PS. An electric motor with output capacity of 20 kW is also installed, while the transmission is taken care by a 7 speed DSG gearbox. The special hybrid feature of VW Jetta Hybrid allows the sedan to travel a distance of approximately 2 kms at an average speed of 70 kmph on pure electric power.

Beetle electric or the two seater E-Bugster is powered by lithium ion batteries generating a maximum power of 85 kWh motor. VW electric Beetle is an all electric car and has no gas powered engine. from the outside, electric Beetle looks a lot sportier than the conventional Beetle as the roof has been lowered by 30 mm’s. 0-100 kmph is done in 10.9 seconds, not bad for an all electric Beetle.
