Most efficient Volkswagen plants receive Energy Efficiency Award 2012 at ‘Think Blue. Factory’ annual meeting


Volkswagen 2012 ‘Think Blue. Factory’ annual meeting was held which was attended by over 350 energy experts from among 21 Volkswagen plants. The meeting held in Wolfsburg saw the company honor best solutions which will go a long way in reduction of energy consumption at Volkswagen production plants.

These experts discussed progress achieved by Volkswagen plants till date and also set benchmarks for future targets and objectives which the company hopes to achieve in their endeavor towards conserving energy and preserving the environment. It was at the end of last year that all Volkswagen plants decided to reduce energy and water consumption besides wastewater production and CO2 emissions on each vehicle by as much as 25% by the year 2018. This program was titled Think Blue Factory under which each plant has to develop their own plan for achieving these targets by 2018.

Energy Efficiency Awards for the lowest energy consumption was awarded to Pamplona, Spain and Polkowice, Poland plants. For best performance and highest reduction in energy consumption as compared to previous year’s figures the awards were given to Polkowice , Poland and Pune, India plants and also to the plastic parts production unit at Wolfsburg.
