BMW July 2013 sales stood at 128,594 units, up 13.5% as compared to sales in the same month in the previous year. However, Audi sales were up 9.8% to stand at 131,300 units during the same month. But deliveries across the globe during the period January to July 2013, saw BMW maintain a healthy lead. For the seven month period, BMW sales stood at 1,106,876 units, a growth of 6.8% compared to sales generated in the same period last year. For Audi, the numbers stand at 911,800, a growth by 6.9%.
BMW and Audi continued to maintain their lead over Mercedes Benz, who posted sales of 116,790 units during July 2013. Global sales of Mercedes Benz stand at 811,227 units for the Jan-Jul 2013 period (+8.1% growth). Audi and Mercedes Benz both want to become No 1 manufacturer by 2020.
Elsewhere in China, which is the amongst the largest luxury car consumer in the world, BMW has posted a higher growth in sales as compared to Audi and Mercedes Benz. China, which has been Audi’s stronghold, managed to sell 41,766 units with a 27% growth rate. BMW posted sales of 32,194 units with 39% growth rate, while Mercedes Benz posted 18,530 units in sales with 31% growth rate.
