Indo-German Urban Mela is being held at Indraprastha Park in New Delhi from October 26, 2012. This will be the venue for unveiling the new concept car which is jointly developed by BASF and Daimler AG. Called Smart Forvision, the new vehicle was earlier seen at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2011 after which BASF adopted new technology and materials to make the vehicle lighter resulting in better performance and energy efficiency.

BASF is the world’s largest supplier of chemical products to the automotive industry. The company also develops sustainable solutions for energy efficient mobility. BASF has teamed up with Daimler to develop this futuristic electric vehicle concept that offers solutions to the challenges of the future. Smart Forvision is a combination of a revolutionary design, lifestyle and future technology that is all brought together to form a new and exciting lightweight vehicle that offers efficient energy management. The concept vehicle is seen with transparent organic solar cells, transparent organic lightweight diodes in its solar roofing and all plastic wheel rims.

Infrared and reflective coatings on its exterior contribute to efficient temperature management while at the same time offering scratch resistance while also maintaining interior temperatures. A special while coating with glass flakes creates a gleaming metallic look while reflecting heat rays from the sun and keeping interior spaces cooler. This leads to temperature reduction of upto 20 degrees Celsius on paint surface and of about 4 degrees Centigrade in the vehicle’s interior.
