BMW i8 spied in India before Auto Expo debut
BMW India is getting ready to reveal their car of the future, i8 at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo. Earlier seen at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2013, the i8 might be launched in India later this year.
This BMW i8 petrol-electric hybrid sports coupe will be the company’s new flagship. It is powered by a turbocharged 1.5 liter BMW twin-power turbo petrol engine with peak power of 231 bhp and 320 Nm torque in conjuncture with an electric motor producing 131 bhp and 250 Nm torque. The petrol engine transmits power to front wheels while rear wheels are powered by the electric motor. Performance of the BMW i8 will see acceleration from 0 to 100 kmph in 4.5 seconds, fuel efficiency of 40 kmpl while top speed stands at 250 kmph.
Sheer elegance and style both where its exterior accents and internal makeup is concerned, the i8 sports a lower stance and stretched out bonnet with a prominent kidney grille and sporty bumper line. If launched in India, it will be in very few numbers as the i8 has already been sold out for the 1st year of production quota. If launched in India, pricing could be around INR 1.5 to INR 1.6 crores.
Besides BMW i8 hybrid, BMW India will be displaying BMW 1 Series, 3 Series, 5 Series, BMW X1, X3, Z4 and the BMW 7 Series along with M6 Gran Coupe and new BMW X5 at the 2014 Auto Expo. (spy shot source)
