Chevrolet Sail U-VA hatchback price slashed by INR 25k

GM India launched the all new Maruti Swift hatch competitor, Sail U-VA back in Nov 2012 with a starting price of INR 4.44 lakhs, but according to a new ad in today’s newspaper, Sail UVA price has been slashed by INR 25k.

This might not come as a surprise to many, especially to those who have been keeping an eye on the declining sales figures being reported by car manufacturers in India. Chevrolet India is probably trying to revive sales of their newly launched hatch, Sail U-VA, which is now available at INR 4.19 lakhs, instead of the launch price of INR 4.44 lakhs.

Team-BHP spotted the ad which featured the new price of Chevrolet Sail U-VA in today’s edition of The Times of India. The ad clearly states that the Chevrolet Sail sedan is now priced at INR 4.99 lakhs while the Sail hatchback is priced at INR 4.19 lakhs. For the month of Feb 2013, Sail hatch sales in India stood at 560 units, while that of its nemesis, Maruti Suzuki Swift managed 19,534 units.
