Fiat Avventura spied testing outside Ranjangaon plant
Fiat India plans to go on the offensive in 2014 in a bid to turn around fortunes and to achieve this aim, big launches are on the way. Fiat Avventura, a sturdier variant as compared to the Grande Punto is in final stages of testing heading towards a festive launch later this year.
Showcased as a concept earlier this year at the 2014 Auto Expo, the new Fiat Avventura is the company’s offering in the cross hatchback segment that also includes others such as VW Cross, Polo and Toyota Etios Cross. The new Avventura is based on Fiat Punto and gets a host of design elements on exteriors and interiors though continues with same engine specs as seen on the Punto.
Fiat Avventura gets a new and exposed spare wheel, roof rails, projector headlamps and skid plates on its exterior, while interiors boast of orange accents on music system, gear lever and AC vents. Engines are same as those on Punto in the form of 1.2 liter, 1.4 liter petrol engines and 1.3 liter diesel engines; all mated to six speed manual gearbox. Fiat will be producing the new Avventura from company’s plant in Ranjangaon, Maharashtra from where the Punto, Linea and other Tata Motors vehicles such as Manza, Vista and Indica V2 are produced.
Once successfully launched, Fiat Avventura will compete with Volkswagen Cross Polo and Toyota Etios Cross while the company also plans to launch the refreshed Punto and Abarth 500 later this year.
