Fiat India is gearing up to launch new models of cars and jeeps in the country during the current year. A new Punto Abarth will be launched in June with plenty of localisation, and this will be followed by two Jeep brands, a Wrangler and Cherokee which will make their way into India by October. Currently Fiat India holds a 0.5% market share and is on the brink to double this, hoping to reach 1% by end of this year.

Plans ahead for 2014-15 include a B segment SUV and C Segment SUV to pander to the whims of Indian consumers who are of late showing added interest where sports utility vehicles are concerned. Fiat India will be manufacturing the Punto Abarth from the company plant in Ranjangaon in Maharashtra which will be introduced both with petrol and diesel mills. Jeep Wrangler and Cherokee will be imported into the country.

Besides bringing in new models during the year, Fiat India will also be expanding dealerships within the country. Dealers will total 60 to 65 by March 2013 while this figure will go up to 110 by the close of the year.
