Ford carries their 1.0L EcoBoost engine in a travel-bag for the 2012 LA Auto Show

Transport Security Administration have seen a lot of out of the ordinary, peculiar and sometimes funny articles making their way across screens of airport security machines, but the one thing that really takes the cake is the Ford 1.0 liter EcoBoost engine packed into the carryon travel luggage bag on its journey from Detroit to Los Angeles.

Heading to be demonstrated at the 2012 LA Auto Show scheduled from November 30 – December 9, 2012, this diminutive engine was seen through the x ray machine which caused some amusement to inspecting staff. When this engine is going to be offered by Ford in India, is yet to be seen but it is expected to make its way into the upcoming Ford EcoSport which is due for launch in 2013.

Ford EcoBoost 1.0 liter engine is a very sought after engine. It is at its zenith when it comes to power packed in a small package as this engine offers a maximum output of 125hp which can be increased to 145 hp when using an ECU remap. Ford was clearly doing some advanced PR by showing off size and dimensions of its upcoming engine before it is scheduled to be introduced in the US and hence this stunt.
